Nick Pont’s work is of naïve nature. An otherworldly feeling is created through his poetic tonal drawings, technicolor paintings and painterly impressionist photographs. By using a process that is intuitive and experimental Pont focuses on a unique interpretation of culture, shifting memory and his surrounding environment. This interpretation involves re-imagining the past using a range of historical media and own photographs while simultaneously altering the present through his sublime drawings to portray a sophisticated narrative that explores nostalgia and idealism. A wide range of prolific artists including Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd, Brett Whiteley, Vincent Van Gogh and Peter Doig influence Pont’s ritualistic practice.
